Vizow.com Frequently Asked Questions
Effective: January 3, 2006

This page contains Frequently Asked Questions by our members.
Accounts

Q: Is my personal information safe and secure?
A: Yes no one will see your registration information. There is a privacy setting option for each profile only allowing communication and profile viewing by those marked as your friends. For more details view out Private Policy.

Q: I accidentally entered in my gender wrong how can I change it?
A: Send an email to Ang and ask him to change it for you.

Q: What if I don't like my username anymore and I'd like to change it?
A: You can't. With as many members as we have, and the people in the forums, everyone changing their usernames becomes a hassle. People are known by their usernames and if they keep switching, everyone will just get confused and not know who is who. So unless there's a really good reason for it to change, please just keep the one you have, it's not going to kill you.

Q: How do I change what is displayed in my profile?
A: To edit your profile, first click on "My Profile" at the top nav bar, then "Edit Profile" in your profile. You can also customize your profile using html code, CSS, or javascript (like Myspace.com). When you do insert new media into your profil (flash movies or games, music videos, sound files) please insert their code into the 'Media' field on your 'Edit Profile' page. I try to keep a page available for users that keeps track of the most popular CSS code used (click here).

Q: What does Saluted Photo or Saluted Status mean and how do I salute? Do I have to?
A: You don't have to have saluted status. This is a method of determining if you are actually the person in your picture. It also improves your chances of becoming the Main Featured Member for a week. To be saluted you have to provide a sign in one of the photos on your profile that displays the name vizow. This can be in the form of writing on your hand, writing on a small piece of paper, etc. be creative.

Example:

One major advantage to being a saluted member is that it improves your chances of becoming a Main Featured Member. You can still become a Main Featured Member without being saluted, but being the creator of this site.. I have to admit seeing someone write the name on them etc. makes me feel kinda good inside.

Q: What exactly is a moderator, and how do I become one?
A: A moderator is a person who has been chosen, by the staff, that has shown that they have the ability to do the job. This only occurs when the site is in need for new moderators, please don't ask to become one, if you're a candidate, we'll see you. Asking may diminish your chance at becoming one. A moderator goes through the forums, checking threads, helping people, keeping everything in order.

Q: How do I add colors, fonts, sizes and urls to profile, posts and signature?
A: You can modify the text and fonts on your profile by using html. If you don't know html there are free online editors that can help. example: (click here).

Q: I just submitted my picture. How long until it is approved?
A: It normally takes up to a few minutes to a few hours to get your picture approved. Our pic mods approve picture as soon as they can, so please be patient.

Q: How big of a picture can I upload?
A: The servers will not accept a picture under 140Kb. If you don't know how to resize it, the easiest way to do it is;
Open it up in MS Paint
ctrl+w and change the size depending on how much bigger it is... usually 50x50 works well.
If you change it, and there's still something wrong, don't keep changing it, that'll distort the picture and ruin it. Start from scratch, do a ctrl +z and try another size. Or for those of you using Photoshop, go to Image --> Image Size --> change the percentage, and save.

Q: I just tried to upload a picture and it says it needs to be in JPEG format. It already is! What do I do?
A: Please open your picture in MS paint and resave it as JPEG. If it is a .jpeg, then it's over 100kb (see above to find out how to fix it).

Q: I uploaded a new picture, but it still shows my other one of my profile. What do I do?
A: This means that your pages aren't refreshing. Try refreshing your pages (F5, CTRL+F5. ALT+R, hit the refresh button on your toolbar, or right click and select refresh). And make sure to do it on the page that's not refreshing. If none of those worked, you should check your settings;
Internet Explorer --> Tools --> Internet Options --> Under the General Tab --> Under Temporary Internet Files --> Settings --> Make sure automatically is checked, then click ok. Remember that this is just your computer it's happening on, and everyone else can see your new picture. Please don't keep resubmitting your picture.

Q: How many votes do I have to have before I get a ranking?
A: It takes only 1 vote before you get a ranking, but this may change in the future.

Q: I've seen people with higher ratings then those in the top five featured member. Why aren't the highest ranking people in the top five featured?
A: The site ultimately chooses who is in the top five and who gets featured. Ranking is considered but it's not the determining factor for who gets chosen.

Q: What if I want to reset my rating?
A: To reset your rating, go to My Profile, and then click on the reset rating button. This will bring you to a page with the rules to it, and then by clicking the next link to continue, it will reset your rating.

Q: How do I post my rating on myspace?
A: To post your vizow rating on your Myspace grab the code from the 'Rating Code' link in 'My Profile' and post it in your myspace fields. Yes this rating is a flash file and it auto updates.

Here's an example:

Q: How do I add more then just three photos to my vizow profile?
A: First you'll need a site to store your photos on for example www.photobucket.com . Once you create an account at 'photobucket.com' or a similar site, it will give you a URL for other people to go and look at your photos.

Note: To make your photobucket pictures viewable to the public:
log into your photobucket.com account then click on 'account options' then scroll down to 'Album Options' now select 'Make public'.

Q: How do I become the Main Featured member and what is it exactly?
A:

Every week someone gets chosen to be the weeks main featured member. Being the main featured member means that you will have your photo displayed big on the home page along with your profile description, username, and your profile's media(music).

1. Eligibility. To be eligible to become the Main Featured for the week you must have a relatively high rating, an appealing profile, membership for at least a week, more then one photo in your profile, a music media file in your profile, genuine looking photos or a saluted photo, and a profile description.

2. Limitations. The site has the right to cancel or change the main featured member's featured status at anytime. Being a main featured member lasts a week. This doesn't mean that you won't be chosen to be the main featured again in the future.
